The tri-border region between Germany, Luxembourg and France at the heart of Europe gives rise to an exceptional hand-crafted product from two traditional producers whose methods have already shaped this region’s style and reputation. Independent of their mutual friendship, they all instantly agreed on one point: They wanted a gin that reflected their own region with all its highlights and with the emphasis on quality.
Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin features a particularly intricate recipe, with 30 different botanicals in the mix, including thyme, sloe and rose hip, among (many) others. As if that wasn't enough, the German distillers add a very specific amount of fruity, semi-sweet Riesling. There's lots going on in Ferdinand's Saar Dry Gin, but it's all well balanced and yummy - it's really quite an experience!
Nose: Fragrant, natural notes of lavender and lemongrass, with a little bit of real citrus shortly following. Fresh juniper, lively though not at the forefront.
Palate: Lemons, limes and thyme. Juniper at the centre, though once again it lets the surrounding flavours take the driver's seat. Warming notes of ginger.
Finish: Long and full of fruit notes.
